From International Socialism, No.24, Spring 1966, p.14.
Transcribed & marked up by Einde O’Callaghan for ETOL.
Our brave talk in the last issue about another weekend school on IS has so far not borne much fruit, but it may be possible to organise something in Newcastle for the last weekend in March. This is not a very appetising piece of advertising, but there are no more details available at the moment. Readers interested should write to: Dave Peers, 6 Bilborough Gardens, Newcastle-upon-Tyne 4.
Most of our contributors this time are already familiar to regular IS readers – Chris Harman from his account of Tribune in IS 21, Volkhard Mosler from his article on German Trade unions in IS 20. Mary Phillips, the translator of the first part of the extract from Lukacs Geschichte und Klassenbewusstsein, is an active socialist, German translator with Cambridge degree, and mother of two. Nick Howard was a founder-member of IS Editorial Board and has been on it ever since; former merchant seaman, he studied at London School of Economics, and now teaches in the Extra-Mural Department of Sheffield University. Angus Hone is an ‘historian turned economist’ at Nuffield College, Oxford.
P.S. Comments or criticisms or contributions to the discussion on the Centre for Socialist Education or anything else appearing in this issue should reach the editor by 20 April to be included in IS 25.
