On the Situation in the People’s Republic of China

SOCIALIST REVOLUTION

The propaganda of the counter-revolutionaries admits that the working class is striving to “change the nature of the ownership” of the factories, that is, that they are expelling the capitalists from part ownership of the joint state-private enterprises, so transforming them into socialist enterprises.

The handful of persons in the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee who are in authority... tried to... shift the general orientation of the revolutionary struggle by increasing wages and material benefits, altering the enterprises’ administrative system, and merging factories and changing the nature of their ownership. (“Firmly Support the Revolutionary Peasant Movement, Thoroughly Smash Counter-Revolutionary Economism”, in: “Peking Review”, No. 5, 1967; p. 15).

For the resistance to, and counter-offensive against, the counterrevolutionary forces headed by Mao Tse-tung has become an armed struggle of the working people, led by the working class under the leadership of an organised Marxist-Leninist vanguard, against the Chinese capitalist class.

It has become an armed struggle for the smashing of the economic and political bases of power of the Chinese bourgeoisie, which is thrusting out and waging a life and death struggle to achieve the overall social and political basis for the untrammeled development of its system. It is a revolution to establish the undivided dictatorship of the proletariat and poor peasantry, for the moving forward to the construction of a truly socialist society.

The transition to socialist revolution in China, interrupted for 18 years has at last begun.
