From May 7 to 9, a delegation of the CPML of the U.S., headed by its chairman Comrade Michael Klonsky, visited Madrid and held conversations with a delegation of the Revolutionary Workers Organization (ORT), of Spain, headed by its Secretary-General Jose Sanroma.

The discussions took place in an atmosphere of warm camaraderie, showing a high level of unity between the two parties.

The ORT and the CPML of the U.S. are both communist parties which establish their relations on the basis of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought, on the principles of proletarian internationalism, and on the basis of equality and mutual respect between parties.

The CPML and the ORT consider that the three worlds theory constitutes the strategic and tactical line of the world proletariat. Both parties are applying it to the concrete conditions of their respective countries.

Both parties agree that the USSR and the U.S.A. are fighting for hegemony all over the world and that their rivalry will lead to a new world war. Together, these two superpowers constitute the main enemies of the world’s peoples.

In this contention, the USSR is the most dangerous and aggressive superpower, constituting the principal source of war.

Both our parties are working to strengthen the worldwide front against the two superpowers and both consider that the USSR is the chief target of the anti-hegemonist struggle.

The ORT and the CPML support the just struggle of the Kampuchean people, headed by its legitimate government and led by the Communist Party of Kampuchea, against the Soviet-backed Vietnamese aggression for the recovery of their national independence and state sovereignty. We call on all the anti-imperialist and freedom-loving peoples to raise their voices in protest against the aggression to which Democratic Kampuchea has fallen victim.

The CPML and the ORT support the Communist Party of China and the People’s Republic of China in the task of building their country in this present century into a modern, powerful, socialist country.

The ORT expresses its deep solidarity with the struggle of the U.S. working class and oppressed nationalities to better their living conditions, for their democratic rights, and against U.S. imperialism.

The ORT is fighting for the broadening and consolidation of democracy, for the improvement of the living and working conditions of the Spanish peoples, and against the power of the financial and landed oligarchy and of U.S. imperialism. The ORT is fighting to regain Spain’s full independence and national sovereignty by expelling from its territory U.S. imperialism and barring the penetration of Soviet social-imperialism. The ORT has the goal of a democratic and popular Spain, of socialism and communism.

The CPML expressed its solidarity with the Spanish people’s persistent fight against fascism and imperialism, which has for more than 40 years been a source of inspiration to the American people. The CPML joins with the Spanish people in opposing the historic economic, social and military penetration of Spain by U.S. imperialism, while at the same time supporting Spain against the threat of Soviet expansionism and subversion.

The CPML hails the important victories for the ORT and other progressive forces in the recent Spanish municipal elections as well as the significant gains made in the unity efforts of the Spanish comrades, in their forging of a unified Marxist-Leninist party.

The CPML is waging its struggle for socialism inside one of the two superpowers and recognizes its special responsibility to support the revolutionary movements in those countries under U.S. domination.

The CPML is working to forge the unity of the U.S. working class and the freedom struggles of the oppressed nationalities within the U.S. The U.S. communists are in the forefront of the struggle to defend the rights and living standards of the masses in the face of the capitalist crisis and the ruling class offensive. At the same time, they are fighting against superpower war preparations and are preparing for the coming war.

The people of the U.S.A. are fighting inside of one of the two superpowers, the biggest exploiters and oppressors of the peoples of the world. The peoples of Spain are suffering from the oppression of U.S. imperialism. Our two peoples have a long history of struggle, a common cause and common enemies, and the struggle of the peoples of Spain and the U.S. support each other and weaken our enemies.

The ORT expressed to the comrades of the CPML the desire to transmit to the U.S. working class and people, their appreciation for all the support which they gave to the struggle for liberty in Spain.

Both parties highly valued this first discussion between the Secretary-General of the ORT Jose Sanroma and the Chairman of the CPML of the U.S. Michael Klonsky; and are in favor of further strengthening and deepening our relations in the future.

The expansion of relations between the communist parties of the U.S.A. and Spain is an important event which contributes to the strengthening of the ties between our two peoples.
