ON THE LINE IS PUBLISHED BY WORKER UNITY, A ST. LOUIS-AREA SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION, AND BY THE KANSAS CITY ON THE LINE COMMITTEE. THE KANSAS CITY COMMITTEE INCLUDES MEMBERS OF WORKFORCE, AN ORGANIZATION WITH VIEWPOINTS SIMILAR TO THOSE OF WORKER UNITY.
WORKER UNITY ORGANIZATION’S MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES INDUSTRIAL, HOSPITAL AND CLERICAL WORKERS, COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS AND STUDENTS. WE STAND FOR:
–AN END TO CAPITALISM–THE DOMINATION OF OUR ECONOMY AND GOVERNMENT BY MONOPOLY INDUSTRIALISTS, BANKERS AND LARGE LANDHOLDERS.
–ELIMINATION OF ALL FORMS OF OPPRESSION BASED ON COLOR, NATIONALITY, RACE OR SEX.
–FORMATION OF A SOCIALIST ECONOMY AND GOVERNMENT, DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED BY WORKING PEOPLE, WHO MAKE UP THE OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF OUR SOCIETY.
THESE CHANGES CAN ONLY COME ABOUT WHEN MILLIONS OF WORKING PEOPLE ARE CONVINCED OF THE NEED FOR A SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT, AND CONVINCED OF THEIR ABILITY TO FORM ORGANIZATIONS TO OPPOSE THE RULE OF CAPITAL AND BRING SOCIALISM ABOUT.
IT IS TO THIS END THAT ON THE LINE DEDICATES ITS PAGES. WE WILL EXPOSE THE FACTS OF CAPITALIST RULE AS BEST WE CAN. WE WILL WRITE ABOUT WORKPLACE AND COMMUNITY STRUGGLES–PARTICULARLY THOSE IN OUR OWN LOCALITIES–BECAUSE IT IS OUR CONVICTION THAT MUCH OF THE KNOWLEDGE THAT WILL HELP US BUILD UNITY, STRENGTH AND ORGANIZATION COMES FROM THE LESSONS OF OUR OWN EXPERIENCES.
