New York – After its brutal May 27 attack on the Mun Yick organization in Chinatown here, Workers Viewpoint Organization (WVO) and Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) have gone from bad to worse.

On May 31 and June 8, WVO issued slanderous leaflets attacking China Daily News, a progressive newspaper which prints news of China and the Chinese community in the U.S.; Mun Yick; Jung Ming Bao, another Chinatown newspaper; the League of Revolutionary Struggle (M-L); and the Progressive Chinatown People’s Association (PCPA). The leaflet attacked these groups as the “new KMT” for their support of People’s China. Their leaflet also attacked China’s leaders and opposed the present campaign for modernization. This ridiculous leaflet just served to further expose WVO and AAFE’s bankrupt anti-China stand.

These trotskyites coupled the distribution of these slanderous leaflets with physical provocation. On June 2 WVO and AAFE picketed and then kicked in the front door of China Daily News. On June 3, they held a march and demonstration at Mun Yick’s open house celebration of its founding, hoping to intimidate the people who attended. On June 8, they attacked UNITY reporters, who were advertising for a program later this month, and a person from PCPA. They defended themselves and repulsed the attack.

Various community organizations and individuals in Chinatown have united to stand firm against WVO and AAFE’s gangster tactics. Such activities will not be tolerated and will only serve to further expose and isolate WVO and AAFE.
