Comrades, welcome to the first conference of the Buffalo Student movement under the leadership of the American Communist Workers’ Movement (Marxist-Leninist) on the general themes UPHOLD THE REVOLUTIONARY ASPIRATIONS OF THE AMERICAN PROLETARIAT.
This is the first time in Buffalo that such a vigorous group of young men and women have gathered, together under the red banner of MAO TSETUNG THOUGHT with the main motive of advancing the revolutionary struggle of the American working class and people for the complete overthrow of fascism and U.S. imperialism. The purpose of the conference is to sum up our struggle of the past several month: so as to take definite decisions to move forward the work of Building the Party and Arousing the Masses. We have here the members of the BSM as well as American Student Movement members from other cities and several of our close supporters. Now, we are initiating an ACTUAL STRUGGLE UNIT of the ASM under the leadership of ACWM (M-L) and we have called the conference to bring all our work directly under the supervision of the masses. Comrades, let this first conference be a conference of the new.
The Zone 2 Branch of the ACWM (M-L) met in a formal session on April 23 and stated that in all our work we must uphold the line of Building the Party by waging class struggle inside and outside the movement and we must suppress the negative line in the revolutionary mass movement, the united front work and the Party building of liquidating the mass movement, the united front and the Party through class peace. This correct revolutionary line of complete opposition to liberalism and bourgeois individualism is the basic program for internal Party building and certain erroneous comrades have already come forward to do self-criticism and uphold the Marxist-Leninist policies and political line of the ACWM.
We began our work in Buffalo five months ago at a very low level. There was no revolutionary organization to unite and lead the people; the dregs of society, the holy alliance of the so-called ’left’, were riding roughshod over the broad masses and suppressing their revolutionary initiative, the genuinely progressive cadres who had come out of the mass movement were disunited and without a revolutionary political line, the new cadres who wanted to come forward to serve the people were being mystified. Today we are glad to announce that we have with us many new and old cadres from the local area.
What we did was DARE to go deep among the broad masses, DARE to uphold the revolutionary aspirations of the American proletariat by upholding MAO TSE TUNG THOUGHT and the proletarian revolutionary line of the ACWM and call for building the Party of the Proletariat on the basis of Mao Tsetung Thought, DARE to wage War of Annihilation on the Cultural Front against fascist and slave ideology and culture, and DARE to initiate mass democratic forms in which to release the energy and revolutionary enthusiasm of the broad masses. By today, I would say that our work has posed the question of Uniting the Advanced, to win over the middle in order to arouse the maximum majority of the people. This conference is called to begin solving that problem.
Following the line of Building the Party and Arousing the Masses means to consolidate the local cadres who carry out massive external consolidation of the movement, escalate the War of Annihilation on the Cultural Front, propagate the line of the ACWM and DARE to establish mass democracy among the people; and at the same time give rise to cadres and do everything to help build the centralized organs of the Party.
